Dog Daycare & Boarding
Near Lafayette
For the dog who hikes all weekend and climbs the walls by Wednesday. Here’s what a high-energy dog actually needs during the week, and where DogTag fits.
Saturday was a trail. Sunday was a longer trail. By Wednesday evening your dog is pacing the kitchen, and you’re wondering how a dog who did twelve miles last weekend can be this restless.
It isn’t a lack of exercise. It’s a lack of rhythm. Big weekends and quiet weekdays leave a busy dog with five days of not much to do. For Lafayette families, DogTag is a 10 to 12 minute drive to Superior — close enough to be part of an ordinary Tuesday.
What A Busy Dog
Actually Needs
It’s more than milesA long run tires the legs. It doesn’t always settle the dog. The dogs who come home calm have had a day that covered more than distance.
Miss any one of those and you’ll usually see it at home: the pacing, the chewing, the dog who’s tired and wired at the same time.

Open Play Or
Enrichment Daycare?
Two ways to spend the dayOpen Play Daycare means six to seven hours outdoors, moving between our four yards in a small group picked to suit your dog, with a handler in every yard. Structured rest is built in, so dogs come home settled, not wired. For most high-energy dogs, this is the outlet the week was missing.
Enrichment Daycare adds intelligence games, scent work and behavior reinforcement through the day, in smaller groups still. It suits the clever dogs — the herders, the problem-solvers, the ones who’ve figured out the treat drawer. It’s offered by invitation after the assessment day, so we’ll tell you if it’s the right fit.
Not sure which? That’s what the assessment day is for. We’ll tell you what we see — see daycare at DogTag for the full detail.
Make It A Rhythm,
Not A Rescue
Why the same days each week work bestDaycare works best as part of the week, not a fix for a bad one. Regular days mean a regular group — and a dog who knows exactly what Tuesday holds. From Lafayette, drop-off fits before work — 7:30 to 10am, or from 7am with early drop-off — and pick-up runs 4 to 6pm.
If your dog will come most weeks, a membership brings the day rate down: Trail for one day a week, Foothills for two, Summit for three.
Heading To The Mountains?
They Stay Here
Boarding for Lafayette dogsNot every trip is dog-friendly. Ski weekends, work travel, the wedding three states away. When your dog can’t come, they board with us — joining the daycare groups outside by day and sleeping in their own hand-built wooden kennel at night.
For an active dog, that matters. Their stay keeps the same rhythm as their week: outside in yards they know, then real rest. Prices and paperwork are on our boarding page, and our first-stay prep guide covers the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Lafayette families ask usHow Far Is DogTag From Lafayette?
Usually 10 to 12 minutes from Lafayette. Look for 7440 Marshall Road in Superior; there’s parking on site.
Is Daycare Enough For A Very High-Energy Dog?
For most, yes — six to seven hours outside with the right group is a lot of dog-sized activity. For the ones who need more for their minds than their legs, Enrichment Daycare adds the thinking work, by invitation after their assessment.
My Dog Gets Overexcited Around Other Dogs. Can They Still Come?
Often, yes. We build each group around temperament and play style, and the assessment day shows us where your dog fits. If daycare isn’t the right fit, we’ll tell you honestly.
Do You Board Dogs From Lafayette?
Yes. Think less dog hotel, more long sleepover: overnight guests spend the day outside with our daycare groups and the night in a wooden kennel of their own. Holiday dates go first, so book early.
